Murphy confirmed that in his Friday press briefing, saying vaccinations and boosters were essential in making sure another round of COVID-19 doesn’t emerge.

“Governor Murphy just said that the time when large-scale mitigation measures were necessary has passed,” said Bucco. “That’s exactly why the governor should lift his overbearing vaccine mandates for health care workers, nursing home aides, and corrections officers. Nobody should be fired from their job because they want to make their own health care decisions.”

Murphy extended the vaccination deadline for public healthcare workers and public employees until April 11th due to guidance by the CDC suggesting patients wait additional time between their first and second mRNA shots.

At that time, Murphy is committed to the notion that workers will lose their jobs if they do not get vaccinated. The governor has not wavered from that stance since announcing the mandate.
