Car Burglary Turns Deadly As Thief Shot by Vicim

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is probing a deadly shooting that occurred in the parking lot of the WaterWalk hotel on West Arrowood Road, southwest Charlotte, on Monday morning.

The incident, which involved multiple car break-ins at the hotel, led to a confrontation resulting in the shooting.

The victim, identified as 32-year-old Travoscia Brown, was fatally wounded during this encounter. John Joseph, 47, has been apprehended in connection to Brown’s death and charged with second-degree murder. He is currently held at the Law Enforcement Center in Uptown.

The CMPD is continuing its investigation, gathering interviews and evidence.
