Catonsville player cashes in $50K during jackpot night next door

A Maryland player scored a $50,000 Powerball win the same night a massive jackpot was claimed just across state lines in Delaware.

Baltimore County, MD – A third-tier Powerball ticket worth $50,000 was sold in Catonsville for Monday night’s drawing, according to Maryland Lottery officials. The winning ticket was purchased at Soda Pop Shop on Ingleside Avenue.

The April 6 drawing produced winning numbers 7, 24, 37, 42, 57, and a Powerball of 5. While the Maryland ticket matched enough numbers to secure a $50,000 prize, the jackpot-winning ticket was sold in Delaware with an estimated annuity value of $230.8 million.

In Maryland alone, more than 10,500 players won prizes in the drawing, with winnings ranging from $4 to $100.

Jackpot winner sold just across state lines

Lottery officials confirmed the Delaware jackpot carries a cash option of $104.9 million. The same drawing also produced a second-tier winner in Texas, where a ticket matched the first five numbers for a $1 million prize that doubled to $2 million with the Power Play multiplier.

“The Power Play multiplier for April 6 is X2,” officials said, highlighting how non-jackpot prizes can increase based on the add-on feature.

Multiple ways to play Powerball

Powerball tickets cost $2, with drawings held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Players can add the Power Play option for an additional $1 to multiply non-jackpot winnings, or Double Play for another $1 to enter a separate drawing held after the main event.

Powerball is played across 45 states, as well as Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, offering nine prize tiers ranging from small payouts to the jackpot.
