In a recent poll, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis saw his support dip to single digits in the crucial early primary state of New Hampshire. He was tied with former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, both receiving 9% support within a competitive Republican primary field. The front-runner in the poll was former President Donald Trump, commanding 43% support. Following Trump were former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley at 7%, and former South Carolina Senator Tim Scott and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy each at 5%.

North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum held a lead over former Vice President Mike Pence with 4% and 3% support, respectively, while the survey indicated that 13% of likely GOP primary voters in New Hampshire remained undecided.

This poll’s results coincided with DeSantis’ campaign undergoing a reset, involving staff reductions for streamlined operations, increased media appearances, and smaller grassroots events to present the governor on a more personal level. Meanwhile, Christie’s campaign strategy is heavily focused on New Hampshire, where he launched his presidential bid in early June. In the 2016 GOP primary, Christie withdrew after securing only 7.4% support, finishing in sixth place.

A mid-July survey by the University of New Hampshire had suggested that Trump and DeSantis were leading the field with 37% and 23% respectively, followed by Scott at 8%. Christie and Burgum were tied for fourth with 6% each, ahead of Ramaswamy at 5%.

In other key early primary states such as Iowa and Nevada, Trump maintained a double-digit lead over DeSantis. Trump led by 24 points in Iowa and 30 points in Nevada. Furthermore, in South Carolina, Trump secured 48% support, surpassing Haley and DeSantis at 14% and 13% respectively.

The RealClearPolitics (RCP) average for the 2024 national Republican primary, based on polls conducted between July 12 and August 3, indicated Trump led the crowded field with 53.7% support, followed by DeSantis at 15.7%, Ramaswamy at 6%, Pence at 5.1%, Haley at 3.6%, Scott at 2.9%, and Christie at 2.3%. All other contenders received less than 1% support.

The co/efficient poll collected responses from 862 likely GOP primary voters in New Hampshire between August 5 and August 7, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.3
