Cloudflare outage impacts nj transit services statewide

Newark, NJ – A global Cloudflare outage on Tuesday knocked out major NJ Transit digital services, leaving riders without access to schedules, tickets, and real-time tools.

NJ Transit said the disruption stemmed from a vendor firewall issue tied to Cloudflare’s network failure.

The agency reported that its website, mobile app, and Departure Vision system were either offline or slow to load.

The agency said teams were monitoring the outage and would restore full functionality once Cloudflare applied a fix.

Cloudflare acknowledged a widespread systems failure that caused connectivity problems for organizations around the world.

Digital tools down during international outage

NJ Transit notified riders that ticket purchasing, trip planning, and real-time train and bus updates could be intermittently inaccessible. Commuters attempting to open the NJ Transit Mobile App reported frozen screens, stalled loading, and repeated error messages.

The outage also affected the online version of Departure Vision, which provides live train movement and track assignment information.
