NEW JERSEY — A chilly but sunny start to the week will give way to warmer temperatures and significant rainfall by midweek before conditions clear up again heading into the weekend.

Today: Expect a crisp and sunny day with a high near 38°F. Winds will be light out of the west at 5 to 10 mph. Tonight, skies remain mostly clear with temperatures dropping to around 27°F as winds shift southward at 5 mph.

Tuesday: Partly sunny skies bring warmer temperatures, with highs reaching 54°F. South winds at 5 to 10 mph could gust up to 20 mph. Overnight, skies stay partly cloudy, and temperatures remain mild with a low around 42°F.

Wednesday: A wet and breezy day is in store, with showers arriving after 1 p.m. and a high of 57°F. Winds will be strong from the south at 15 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph. Rain continues into the night with the possibility of thunderstorms before tapering off after 1 a.m. Lows stay mild around 48°F. Rainfall amounts between a quarter and half an inch are expected.

Thursday: Clouds linger but conditions improve, with partly sunny skies and a high near 56°F. By nightfall, temperatures drop significantly to 29°F under partly cloudy skies.

Friday: The week ends on a bright and pleasant note, with sunny skies and a high near 50°F.

The week starts cold but dry, turns warmer and stormy midweek, and then clears up in time for the weekend.
