Chester, NJ – The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s (NJDEP) Division of Fish & Wildlife, in partnership with the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, is set to commence habitat management activities at the Black River Wildlife Management Area. The initiative, starting on February 5, 2024, weather permitting, involves the controlled burning of large brush piles consisting of nonnative vegetation. This crucial step aims to clear the way for the introduction and growth of native habitat plantings.
