WASHINGTON, D.C. — Delonta Stevenson, 29, and Vorreze Thomas Jr., 26, both residents of Washington, D.C., were sentenced today for their roles in the 2021 murder of 32-year-old Terrance Allen in Southeast Washington. The sentencing was announced by U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves and Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

Delonta Stevenson received an 85-year prison sentence after being found guilty of first-degree murder while armed, conspiracy to commit a crime of violence, two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed, and related firearms offenses. His verdict was delivered by D.C. Superior Court Judge Marisa J. Demeo on February 1, 2024.

Vorreze Thomas Jr. was sentenced to 53 years in prison on similar charges, including first-degree murder while armed and assault, under an aiding and abetting theory. Judge Demeo also delivered this sentence.

The government’s evidence presented at trial revealed that on January 18, 2021, Stevenson, from the front passenger seat of a vehicle driven by Thomas, fired thirty-four rifle shots into the back of Terrance Allen’s vehicle as it exited the Stanton Glen Apartments. Although Allen was not the intended target, he was killed and two other passengers were wounded in the attack, which stemmed from a prior dispute with one of the other passengers.

After the shooting, Stevenson and Thomas attempted to escape but crashed their vehicle at the intersection of 29th and Erie Street SE. Despite initially fleeing on foot, both were apprehended by the MPD on February 17, 2021, following a pursuit initiated by a nearby officer who heard the gunfire.
