‘Dancing Wawa woman’ arrested after bizarre gas station incident leads to third DUI
Stafford County, VA – A 28-year-old Spotsylvania woman’s erratic dance at a Wawa gas station ended with her third DUI arrest after deputies found her under the influence and fighting a fuel pump on Saturday evening.
Deputies say the incident unfolded around 7:45 p.m. at the Wawa on Warrenton Road when multiple callers reported a woman “tweaking out,” dancing around the parking lot, and attempting to fight with a gas pump. When Deputy A.J. Charoenthep arrived, he quickly spotted the suspect due to her erratic movements.
The woman, identified as Brittany Atkins, displayed clear signs of impairment and told the deputy she hadn’t done “a lot” of drugs that day. A records check revealed Atkins had two prior DUI convictions from 2018, and her driver’s license was currently suspended.

A search of her vehicle uncovered suspected controlled substances. Atkins was arrested and charged with driving under the influence third offense in ten years, possession of controlled substances, driving while suspended, and third offense refusal. She was taken to the Rappahannock Regional Jail and held without bond.
The sheriff’s office said no one was injured in the strange gas station encounter, though the suspect’s behavior drew considerable attention from witnesses. Deputies said her arrest marks yet another repeat DUI offense in the region, where impaired driving continues to pose a serious risk.
