Dispute erupts into bloody bar stabbing leaving man critically hurt
Dover, DE – A night out at a Dover bar spiraled into violence when an argument over a missing debit card escalated into a stabbing that left one man with critical injuries and another facing serious felony charges.
Charles Murray, 44, of Felton, was arrested following the incident at Touchdown Lounge on South DuPont Highway, according to Delaware State Police.
Troopers responded Sunday at approximately 11:20 p.m. for reports of a stabbing and learned a male victim had been attacked. Both the victim and Murray were transported to a local hospital.
Investigators said the incident began inside the bar when Murray accused the victim and a bartender of stealing his debit card. During the confrontation, Murray allegedly punched the victim.
The situation continued outside, where the victim approached a vehicle occupied by a friend and began explaining what had happened. Police said Murray then approached the driver’s side door, leading to a physical altercation between him and the friend.
As the confrontation escalated, authorities allege Murray stabbed the victim multiple times when he moved toward the fight.
Detectives later confirmed the victim suffered critical injuries, while Murray was not injured.
Murray was taken into custody without incident and charged with first-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
He was arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $102,000 cash bond.
