FREDERICA, Del. — Delaware State Police arrested Christian Cole, 30, of Frederica, following a high-speed pursuit early Sunday morning that led to the discovery of drugs, a firearm, and a fictitious license plate.

The incident began around 12:30 a.m. when a trooper observed a BMW X5 speeding and swerving along Old Beach Road with only one functioning headlight. Attempts to stop the vehicle were ignored, prompting a pursuit that ended on West Front Street, where the car halted in front of a residence.

Police said Cole, the sole occupant of the vehicle, initially refused to exit despite multiple instructions from the trooper. When he eventually complied, he resisted arrest before being detained.

A search of the vehicle uncovered a large baggie containing suspected marijuana on the passenger seat. Further inspection revealed approximately 117.48 grams of marijuana, a loaded 9mm handgun, and drug paraphernalia. Authorities also discovered the BMW was unregistered and displayed a fake registration plate.

Cole faces several charges, including drug possession, resisting arrest, and firearms violations, according to police.

A routine traffic stop turned pursuit uncovered drugs, a loaded handgun, and an unregistered vehicle, police said.
