BEAR, DE — The Delaware State Police are actively investigating a felony reckless endangering incident that unfolded on the night of August 3, 2024, involving a stolen Camaro that led troopers on a high-speed chase through New Castle County.
The incident began during routine patrols targeting illegal speed exhibitions. Troopers identified a black Chevrolet Camaro with New York plates in the parking lot of University Plaza and discovered the vehicle was reported stolen. When they attempted a traffic stop, the driver of the Camaro fled, striking an occupied state police vehicle in the process.
The pursuit continued on public roadways, during which the Camaro struck another Delaware State Police vehicle. The chase ended in Chester, Pennsylvania, after the Camaro suffered front tire damage and became disabled. The occupants of the vehicle fled on foot, evading capture despite a coordinated search effort involving multiple Pennsylvania law enforcement agencies.
The recovered Camaro was confirmed to be stolen from Bridgewater Township Police Department in New Jersey in June 2024. Fortunately, the two troopers involved in the collisions during the pursuit were not injured.
As of now, there is no available description of the suspects, nor are there any surveillance videos or images. The Delaware State Police are continuing their investigation and request anyone with information about this incident to come forward.
