ASHEVILLE, NC – The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation after a man was found dead Sunday morning along New Leicester Highway, as frigid temperatures and severe winter weather continue across western North Carolina.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of New Leicester Highway shortly after 8 a.m., where they discovered a deceased male lying on the roadside. According to the BCSO, detectives are working to determine whether the death was weather related. Officials said no evidence of foul play has been found at this time, but the investigation remains ongoing.
