Do You Know Him? Newark Police Seeking to ID Assault Suspect

NEWARK, NJ – The public’s help is being sought in identifying a suspect connected to an armed aggravated assault that took place in Newark on Monday morning.

Around 6:35 a.m., a male victim exiting a residence on the 800 block of South 13th Street was confronted by a male suspect brandishing a firearm. The suspect ordered the victim back inside the dwelling, but a struggle ensued, leading the armed suspect to flee west on Madison Avenue.

The suspect is described as a Black male in his forties, standing 5’11” tall and weighing 180 pounds. He was seen wearing a black raincoat with bright orange lining, black cap, black ski mask, black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black boots, and black gloves.

Public Safety Director Fritz G. FragĂ© has called on anyone with information about the suspect’s identity to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). Tips are kept confidential and may be eligible for a reward.
