Couple charged after violent home invasion with knife in Browns Mills
PEMBERTON TOWNSHIP, NJ – Two suspects are behind bars after police say they kicked in a front door and assaulted residents during a home invasion on Chippewa Trail Tuesday night.
Officers responded at approximately 9:43 p.m. to a residence on Chippewa Trail for a report of a woman armed with a knife inside the home.
Investigators allege Angelica Giannotti, 31, of Browns Mills, and Jeremiah Roach, 18, of Pemberton, forced entry by kicking in the front door. Upon entering, Giannotti was observed holding a knife and began assaulting two residents. During the struggle, the knife fell from her hand and was later recovered by officers.
Police said Roach entered the residence and approached a male resident, physically assaulting him and causing minor abrasions and lacerations.
Medical treatment was refused by all parties at the scene.
After the assault, the suspects fled but were later located and taken into custody.
Giannotti was charged with home invasion, simple assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and endangering the welfare of a child.
Roach was charged with home invasion and simple assault.
Both were processed and lodged at the Burlington County Jail.
The investigation was conducted by Pemberton Township Patrolman Scott Redler.
The charges are accusations, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
