DOVER, DE – The Dover Police Department is kicking off the holiday season with a community celebration and toy drive to support Toys for Tots Kent County, inviting residents to join in spreading cheer to families in need.

The department announced that its Hometown Holiday Event will take place on December 13, featuring food trucks, music, family activities, and festive entertainment.

Immediately following the parade, officers will host a Toy Drive at 122 W. Loockerman Street, where residents can drop off new, unwrapped toys to benefit local children.

All toys collected at the event—and those donated in the Dover Police Department lobby throughout the season—will be displayed in the Dashing Through Dover Parade that follows the celebration. The department said it hopes to “fill the parade with generosity and joy,” showcasing community support for the cause.

Community invited to give back

Officials encouraged residents to take part in the holiday effort, noting that each donation helps brighten the season for a child in need. “Your support makes a difference,” the department said. “Let’s show what Dover can do when we come together for our kids and our community.”

The Dover Police Department’s Hometown Holiday Event and toy drive aim to unite the community through giving, celebration, and holiday spirit.
