BRONX, NY – A hit-and-run driver slammed into an NYPD patrol vehicle and a bicyclist during a chaotic Bronx collision Friday afternoon before abandoning his SUV and fleeing on foot, police said.

The incident unfolded around 2:58 p.m. near Westchester Avenue and White Plains Road.

Two uniformed officers had attempted to stop the suspect’s black Ford Bronco when he accelerated toward them, striking their patrol car.

Cyclist thrown to ground as driver sped off

After ramming the police car, the suspect’s vehicle struck a 36-year-old male bicyclist, ejecting him from his bike and leaving him in pain throughout his body. The man was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was listed in stable condition.

Officer injured during pursuit attempt

A female NYPD officer involved in the attempted traffic stop sustained pain to her arm from the impact. She was transported to a nearby hospital, also in stable condition, officials said.

Suspect fled on foot, police searching

The driver abandoned the black Ford Bronco and ran off toward an unknown location. He is described as a male with a dark complexion, last seen wearing a black vest, black long-sleeve shirt, black pants, an orange backpack, and carrying both a black and red bag along with a green construction vest.

Police are urging anyone with information to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline as the investigation into the violent hit-and-run continues.
