NYPD investigating robbery targeting elderly man in the Bronx
BRONX, NY — A 68-year-old man was robbed in broad daylight after two suspects approached him on a Bronx street, pretended to have firearms and ripped necklaces from his neck before fleeing, police said.
The robbery happened last Monday around 2:30 p.m. near Barker Avenue and Magenta Street within the confines of the 47th Precinct.
According to NYPD Crime Stoppers, the two unidentified suspects first engaged the victim in conversation before escalating the encounter.
Investigators said the suspects simulated firearms and forcibly removed two necklaces from the victim’s neck during the robbery.
After grabbing the jewelry, the pair ran northbound on Barker Avenue toward Duncomb Avenue.
Police have not released descriptions of the suspects as detectives continue investigating the incident.
