Fairborn man turns $40 bet into a $40k prize — Man holding dollar bills roll, corruption payment, dirty money, financial fraud

FAIRBORN, OH – Dean Karns, a Fairborn resident, won $40,000 playing the Ohio Lottery’s Touch & Win EZPLAY® game, First Down Fortune, during a visit to the Sugar Mellon Club on Dayton Drive.

After initially playing Keno and other games following a pool game loss, Karns decided to try his luck with First Down Fortune. He quickly began to see his luck turn around, winning smaller amounts before hitting the game’s $40,000 prize.

After mandatory federal and state taxes totaling 28%, Karns will take home approximately $28,800. He plans to use his winnings for racecar-related purchases, as he owns a racecar team and has appeared on the Discovery Channel show Street Outlaws for the past decade.

Known as “Stinky Pinky” in the racing world, Karns drives pink cars as a tribute to his family members affected by cancer and donates to cancer research charities. His latest win adds to his history of big prizes, which includes a $75,000 slot machine jackpot.

The Ohio Lottery’s EZPLAY® Touch & Win games are based on Keno and are available exclusively at retailers with Touch & Win terminals. Since 1974, the Ohio Lottery has contributed more than $33 billion to education in the state.
