SUFFOLK, Va. – A late-night crash on Interstate 664 sent five people to the hospital Thursday after three vehicles collided near Exit 8A.

Emergency crews responded to the northbound lanes shortly after 9:17 p.m., where multiple vehicles were reported damaged and traffic slowed for several miles.

All five individuals sustained injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.

Virginia State Police confirmed the crash remains under investigation as troopers work to determine the cause and sequence of the collision.

Northbound lanes experienced temporary closures as law enforcement and rescue crews cleared the wreckage and assisted those injured. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved or indicated whether any citations will be issued.

Virginia State Police continue to examine the circumstances leading up to the crash and have not ruled out any contributing factors, including speed or driver distraction. Updates are expected once the investigation is complete.

The highway was fully reopened later in the evening as traffic returned to normal flow.

State police ask anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them with information.
