Gloucester, VA – Decades after winning $25,000 from the Virginia Lottery, Oletha Etheridge has struck it big again, claiming the $100,000 a Year top prize and choosing a one-time $816,000 cash payout before taxes.

Etheridge purchased her winning ticket at Food Lion on Hargett Boulevard in Gloucester. She decided to split the prize with her two daughters, Taletha and Takema. Each plans to use their share for personal milestones, with Etheridge intending to buy a Corvette and add rooms to the home she purchased with her earlier lottery win.

The $100,000 a Year scratcher, game #2343, offers prizes from $20 to $1,000,000. One top prize remains unclaimed. The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 612,000, while the odds of winning any prize are 1 in 2.91.

All Virginia Lottery profits benefit K-12 education. Gloucester received more than $3.5 million for schools last fiscal year, with the Lottery contributing over $901 million statewide in FY2025.
