JACKSON, NJ – Two state lawmakers seeking re-election are throwing their support behind longtime emergency services leader Al Couceiro in his bid for a seat on the Jackson Township Council.
Assemblymen Rob Clifton and Alex Sauickie, who represent New Jersey’s 12th Legislative District, issued a joint endorsement letter this week backing Couceiro.
The letter praised Couceiro’s decades of public service and leadership in Jackson, citing his work as a firefighter, fire commissioner, and more than ten years as Chief of Jackson EMS.

Lawmakers highlight Couceiro’s community service
In their joint statement, Clifton and Sauickie credited Couceiro with saving lives, improving local emergency response, and strengthening trust between residents and first responders.
“When our seniors, families, and neighbors have faced emergencies — often at their most frightening moments — Al has been the one ensuring that help arrived quickly, efficiently, and compassionately,” the letter read.
Endorsement focuses on experience and results
The lawmakers said Couceiro’s leadership and teamwork have made a measurable difference in Jackson’s emergency preparedness. “While other candidates may talk about what they’ll do, Al Couceiro has already done it,” the letter stated, underscoring his record of integrity and professionalism.
Clifton and Sauickie concluded their endorsement by calling Couceiro “exactly the kind of person we need on our Township Council,” urging residents to support him in the upcoming election.
Pollak gets key endorsement from socialist former Asbury Park newspaper opinion editor, Randy Bergmann
On the other side of the race former superhero cos-playing New York City vigilante, Chris Pollak, who once claimed, he was the real Batman, boasted about being endorsed by former laid-off Asbury Press opinion editor Randy Bergmann.
Bergmann, who has a small following on Facebook endorsed Pollak. Bergmann is a Trump-hating former newspaperman. Who? That’s right, we asked the same thing when we saw it. Bergmann routinely praises socialist politicians while attacking the Trump administration most of the time on his new editorial platform, Facebook.
Bergmann was laid off from the paper several years ago after the Asbury Park Press and its parent company, Gannett, began targeting elderly, underperforming writers and staff members in one of its many, many reductions in force as the paper has sunk into oblivion.
He was also the brainchild behind “Lakewood Unity”, a failed project launched by the Asbury Park Press meant to create unity between Jackson’s Orthodox Jews and non-Jewish residents by shaming residents with veiled accusations of anti-semitisim for those who did not follow the program.
“There is no shortage of good will in the Orthodox or non-Orthodox communities or people looking for an opportunity to increase understanding and engagement. Join with those of us at the Unity Project and like-minded organizations that are trying to make things better,” Bergmann wrote about the project.
Now, his style has turned from mediocre editorial opinions to vitriolic condemnations of Republicans, local politicians, and anyone who doesn’t agree with him.
