TRENTON, NJ – Governor Murphy did not hold his annual address today as many cities in the nation descend into violence, looting and riots as a protest to honor the life of George Floyd has turned ugly nationwide.  Floyd was murdered by police officers in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  The Governor did not give any warnings of maskless protests or violations of his 25 person limit of public gatherings but did say this on Facebook later in the day.

“George Floyd should be alive today – not just as a matter of principle or justice, but as a matter of human dignity,” Murphy said. “‪Too many times we’ve gotten a national wake-up call and done nothing. Justice for George means acknowledging our nation’s centuries-old stain of racism.”

Many took to Murphy’s official Facebook page to remind the governor of blood on his own hands as thousands of elderly citizens died of COVID-19 after his order to place infected patients into those nursing homes.
