Police swarm Bethesda North Marriott parking lot after 41-year-old man was gunned down in broad daylight
NORTH BETHESDA, Md. — A man staying at a North Bethesda hotel was shot and killed in the parking lot Thursday morning after an armed suspect confronted him before opening fire and fleeing the scene, investigators said.
Montgomery County police officers and fire rescue crews responded around 11:37 a.m. Thursday to the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in the 5700 block of Marinelli Road following reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found a 41-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound in the hotel parking lot.
The victim was identified as Quentin Tyrone Davis, who police said was a guest at the hotel and had no known address.
Officers attempted life-saving measures until Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel arrived, but Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said Davis had been walking alone through the parking lot toward the hotel when an unknown suspect confronted him.
Moments later, the suspect shot Davis before running from the area.
Police said officers, assisted by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Metro Transit Police, searched the surrounding area and nearby Metro trains in an effort to locate the suspect.
No suspect description or motive has been released.
Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police Major Crimes Division Homicide Unit continue to investigate the deadly shooting.
