Gunfire rocks Southwest DC street as police hunt suspect caught on camera
Washington, DC – A burst of gunfire rang out late Monday afternoon on a Southwest Washington street, sending neighbors ducking for cover as police scrambled to the scene — but the shooter vanished before officers arrived.
Just before 5 p.m. on Monday, officers from the First District responded to reports of gunshots in the 200 block of N Street SW. Although no one was injured, investigators recovered evidence at the scene confirming that a shooting had occurred.
Surveillance cameras in the area captured both a suspect and a person of interest, and images of the individuals are now circulating as the Metropolitan Police Department seeks the public’s help in identifying them.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation, and it is unclear if the suspect targeted a specific individual or fired indiscriminately. Officials have not said how many shots were fired, but the incident took place in broad daylight in a residential area not far from major developments and community centers.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for tips that lead to an arrest and conviction in connection with the case.
