NEWARK, DE – Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery that unfolded early Saturday morning at a Walgreens on Pulaski Highway.
Around 8 a.m., an armed suspect entered the store at 2719 Pulaski Highway and confronted an employee while brandishing a handgun.
The gunman ordered the employee to the rear office, where another staff member was counting money, then restrained both with zip ties before taking an undisclosed amount of cash.
No one was injured, but the suspect fled the scene on foot before troopers arrived.
Suspect fled with cash after restraining workers
Troopers said the man made off with an unknown sum of money after securing the employees inside the store. Officers canvassed the surrounding area immediately after the robbery but were unable to locate the suspect.
Investigators release suspect description
Police described the suspect as a Black male with curly black hair, wearing a black face covering and dark clothing at the time of the incident. Detectives are now reviewing surveillance footage and seeking any witnesses who may have seen the suspect fleeing the area.
The Delaware State Police are urging anyone with information to contact the Troop 2 Robbery Unit or Delaware Crime Stoppers.
