NEWARK, Del. — Delaware State Police are investigating a late-night home invasion after two armed men entered a Newark residence, tied up the occupant, and stole cash and property.

The incident occurred Monday at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Salem Church Road. Police say two unidentified Black male suspects forced their way into the home, where they confronted the victim in the family room.

According to a preliminary investigation, the intruders were both armed and demanded property while asking about an unidentified male. The suspects restrained the victim by tying his hands and proceeded to ransack his room before fleeing the scene.

Police confirmed the victim was not injured during the incident. Authorities said the suspects were dressed in dark-colored clothing and carried firearms.

No surveillance footage has been recovered. The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Robbery Unit is leading the investigation.

“Detectives are asking anyone with information about this case to contact Detective J. Dempsey by calling (302) 365-8472,” police said in a release.
