BRONX, NY – The Bronx Zoo is set to sparkle once again as Holiday Lights returns this season, transforming the zoo into a glowing wonderland filled with wildlife lanterns, festive performances, and new interactive experiences for families.
The annual event, sponsored by Con Edison, runs select evenings from November 21 through January 4, inviting guests to explore six immersive light trails and new attractions that celebrate the magic of the season.
Organizers say this year’s expanded lineup includes a Freeze Zone featuring massive snow tube slides, an illuminated ice throne photo area, talking snowmen, and a snowball wall for virtual snowball tossing.
The popular Enchanted Sea exhibit also returns with new puppetry and interactive displays that bring marine life to life through performance and play.
Visitors will find more than 400 illuminated lanterns representing nearly 100 animal and plant species along the trails, connecting the celebration to the zoo’s global wildlife conservation mission.
A towering holiday tree will anchor the event, featuring musical light shows throughout the evening. Guests can also watch nightly ice-carving demonstrations, ride the holiday train, enjoy Wildlife Theater puppet shows, and roast s’mores under the winter sky.
Holiday Lights offers both new thrills and classic traditions, blending family fun with a focus on conservation and creativity. The walk-through format provides a safe, open-air experience for visitors of all ages.
WCS officials said the event is designed to inspire joy and connection during the holidays while reminding guests of the beauty and importance of protecting wildlife.
Holiday Lights will open with a media preview and ceremony on Tuesday, November 18, at 5 p.m., followed by exclusive member preview nights November 18–20. The public opening follows on November 21.
The event will be open on select evenings through early January, including major weekends and holidays. Ticket sales begin at 3 p.m., with lights and lantern trails opening at 4:30 p.m.
General admission tickets start at $26.95, with adult and senior prices ranging up to $41.95. Wildlife Conservation Society members receive 40% off all tickets, while Conservation-level members get free admission throughout the season.
Visitors can enter through the Bronx River and Southern Boulevard gates, with the Dancing Crane Café, Bug Carousel, and zoo store open during both day and evening hours.
