ELKRIDGE, MD — A college student from Howard County is celebrating a $50,000 lottery win after making a spontaneous decision to play the Gold Rush 777 scratch-off game.
The Information Technology major stopped at Arundel Mills Exxon in Hanover, a location he frequently passes, and decided to try his luck. While still inside the store, he scratched his ticket and noticed several matching numbers. After double-checking his win and having the store clerk confirm it, he realized he had hit a $50,000 prize.
The winner, who has chosen to keep his windfall private, enjoys basketball, good food, and spending time with family.
The Gold Rush 777 scratch-off game launched in May 2024 and still has more than 300,000 prizes remaining, including two $1 million top prizes and two additional $50,000 prizes.
