ELLICOTT CITY, MD—The Howard County Police Department has released crime bulletins for May 22 and May 23, 2024, detailing multiple incidents including burglaries, vehicle thefts, and thefts from vehicles across several areas.
In Ellicott City, on May 22, a burglary occurred at a residence on the 3100 block of Elmmede Road around 2:13 p.m. The homeowner noticed several male suspects inside her home who had entered through a shattered rear glass door. They fled upon being spotted, and no items were reported stolen.
Another incident in Ellicott City between May 17 and 21 involved unknown suspect(s) breaking into a home on the 3100 block of Saint Charles Place, where they stole various items and vandalized the property.
In Columbia, a shed burglary on May 22 at the 5100 block of Oven Bird Green led to the theft of tools, and multiple vehicle break-ins were reported. Over the night of May 21-22, several vehicles on the 5200 block of West Running Brook Road had various items stolen. Another theft occurred on May 22 between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. on the 7200 block of Lee Deforest Drive, where a vehicle’s front bumper was stolen.
Vehicle theft was reported in Laurel, where a 2020 Toyota Highlander was stolen early on May 23 at the intersection of Old Scaggsville Road and Gross Avenue. The vehicle was later recovered, and a 54-year-old Laurel resident, Eric Smith, was arrested and charged with motor vehicle theft and theft.
Additionally, theft from a vehicle occurred in Laurel between May 18 and 22 at the 9300 block of Whiskey Bottom Road, involving stolen tools.
These incidents are currently under investigation, and the Howard County Police Department is urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigations.
