HS GIRLS BASKETBALL: Donovan Catholic Defeats Mater Dei 53-36

Asha Harper scored 16 points and pulled down seven rebounds Tuesday as the 14th-seeded Donovan Catholic High School girls basketball team defeated visiting Mater Dei, 53-36, in the first round of the Shore Conference Tournament.

Kaitlyn Borghesi scored 12 points and Melissa Buxton had 11 for the Griffins, who led by 13 points at halftime.

Maggie Klatt scored 11 points for the Seraphs.

Donovan Catholic will face third-seeded Manasquan on Thursday in the second round.
