HS GIRLS BASKETBALL: Holmdel Defeats Toms River South 60-54

The Toms River South High School girls basketball team held a 10-point lead at the end of the first quarter Friday but couldn’t hold on as visiting Holmdel came back to defeat the Indians, 60-54.

Jen Inman scored 24 points for the Hornets, who trailed by two points at halftime before outscoring Toms River East 21-7 in the third quarter. Sydney Coffaro added 19 points for Holmdel.

Kelly Porter and Maria Gregorio scored 12 points each for the Indians. Nina Shirey added 10 points and Emily Donzanti had eight for Toms River South.
