Human remains found in Northeast D.C. identified as homicide victim

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Authorities are investigating the death of a woman whose remains were discovered behind a property in Northeast D.C. ruling the case a homicide.

Officers responded around 11:46 a.m. on Oct. 18 to the 4300 block of Brooks Street NE after receiving a report of human remains. DC Fire and EMS arrived on the scene and confirmed the individual was deceased.

The remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where an autopsy determined the victim had been killed. The victim was identified as 34-year-old Chandra Brown, who had no fixed address.

The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Anyone with details is urged to call (202) 727-9099 or text tips to 50411.
