Chicago, IL – A 32-year-old man was arrested across state lines and charged with first-degree murder in connection with a deadly August shooting on the city’s South Side.
Police said the suspect, identified as Carlos Keith, was taken into custody Wednesday by Chicago Police detectives with assistance from Indiana authorities.
Keith is accused of fatally shooting a 33-year-old man in the 6300 block of South Elizabeth Street around 2:46 a.m. on August 31.

Arrest made after two-month investigation
Authorities located Keith in the 2200 block of North Main Street in Crown Point, Indiana, where he was taken into custody without incident. Detectives said the arrest followed a multi-agency investigation into the late-night shooting in Chicago’s 7th District.
The victim, whose name has not been released pending notification of family, was found unresponsive at the scene and pronounced dead shortly after.
Court appearance scheduled
Keith faces one felony count of first-degree murder and is scheduled for a detention hearing Thursday at Cook County Criminal Court, located at 2600 South California Avenue.
Officials said no further information would be released at this time as the investigation remains ongoing.
