Is that a gun in your purse? TSA stops woman with gun at Pittsburgh International

On January 14, 2022 at 5:30 AM, TSA officers observed a loaded .380 handgun within a passenger’s handbag at the alternate security checkpoint of Pittsburgh International Airport and alerted Allegheny County Police of their finding.

County Police were able to determine that the 41-year-old, female passenger possessed a valid concealed carry permit. The Federal Bureau of Investigation was notified. At this time, charges are not expected to be filed by County Police.

The firearm is in the possession of County Police.

Passengers who bring firearms into an airport checkpoint can face federal civil fines from the Transportation Security Administration up to $10,000. Repeat offenders can be fined up to $13, 910.
