Three hospitalized after two-car crash at busy Berkeley Township intersection
Berkeley Township, NJ – A collision at a residential intersection sent three people to the hospital Saturday afternoon after a Hyundai and Jeep crashed, leaving one driver temporarily trapped inside the vehicle and a juvenile passenger injured.
The crash occurred just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Davenport Road and Prince Charles Drive. According to Berkeley Township Police, a 2024 Hyundai Venue was traveling north on Prince Charles Drive when it entered the intersection and collided with an eastbound 2006 Jeep Wrangler on Davenport Road.
Upon arrival, officers found the Hyundai’s driver trapped in the vehicle and complaining of leg pain. A juvenile passenger in the same vehicle also reported chest pain. Emergency crews from the Manitou Fire Department worked to safely extract both occupants from the car.
The driver of the Jeep also reported injuries and was evaluated at the scene.
All three individuals were transported by Berkeley Township EMS to Community Medical Center in Toms River for treatment. Their conditions have not been released.
The intersection was temporarily shut down to allow tow crews to clear the wreckage. The roadway reopened shortly after.
The crash remains under investigation by Officer Wahl of the Berkeley Township Police Department. No summonses or charges have been announced at this time.
