Juvenile Among Four Arrested for Multiple Newark Armed Robberies

NEWARK, NJ – A 17-year-old was among four arrested for a string of armed robberies that occurred in Newark on May 8th of this year.

Interim Newark Public Safety Director Raul Malave III said police responded to a store in the 300 block of South Street. Suspects entered, and Quasim Selph, 21, demanded cash from the register at gunpoint. Jahmere N. Marshall, 19, also brandishing a handgun, took cash from the register with Quamae S. Barnett, 20, and a 17-year-old juvenile.

All four have been arrested and charged.

“I cannot say enough about our officers’ due diligence and how quickly they located these armed suspects, arresting them without incident,’’ said Interim Director Malave III.

The suspects fled in a black BMW and later robbed a sandwich shop in the 100 block of University Avenue.

After this incident, the juvenile suspect was arrested twice more for armed robberies that occurred on May 2, 2022 on Adams Street, and on May 8th at a Sunoco Gas Station, in the 200 block of Elizabeth Avenue.
