GREENWOOD, DE — Delaware State Police have arrested 25-year-old Juventino Hernandez Montoya of Georgetown on multiple charges, including vehicular assault and driving under the influence, following a head-on collision Saturday night.

The crash occurred on March 1, 2025, at approximately 9:42 p.m. on Sussex Highway north of Adams Road. According to authorities, Hernandez Montoya was driving a Nissan Altima northbound in the southbound lanes when he collided head-on with a Kia Sorento driven by a 56-year-old woman from Salisbury, Maryland.

All five occupants of the Kia sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital. Two passengers in Hernandez Montoya’s vehicle were also injured; one was hospitalized, while the other declined medical treatment.

Troopers detected an odor of alcohol on Hernandez Montoya at the scene and observed other signs of impairment. After being taken into custody and undergoing field sobriety tests, he was charged with multiple offenses, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and released on his own recognizance.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
