The Sierra-Tahoe resort is about to celebrate its 75th anniversary and as burning embers from the encroaching massive Caldor fire approach, the hotel is using creative measures to save the resort.
While parts of the resort’s wooded areas smoldered and burned from hot ash and fire, the ski resort itself used its snow machines to rain water down on the resort to save it from the burning embers.
