MINEOLA, N.Y. – Brothers Alan and Andrew Pawelsky from Long Beach, along with a co-conspirator, were arraigned on Friday for their alleged involvement in a black-market operation trafficking stolen catalytic converters.
According to Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly, the brothers’ company, Ace Auto Recycling, received $170 million from a refinery that processed precious metals from the stolen converters.
Charges against the Pawelsky brothers include first and second-degree money laundering, possession of stolen property, and conspiracy.
They are due back in court on June 1.
Co-defendant Jovanie Clarke, who allegedly sold stolen catalytic converters to Andrew Pawelsky, was also arraigned on charges including grand larceny and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property.
