District Heights woman wins $50,000 on Maryland Lottery scratch-off
Dunkirk, MD – A longtime Maryland Lottery player from District Heights says she was stunned when a scratch-off ticket she purchased at a Calvert County grocery store revealed a $50,000 prize.
The lucky winner bought the $5 Cash Blast ticket at the Safeway on Southern Maryland Boulevard in Dunkirk. She later scratched it at home while sitting beside her husband, realizing almost immediately that she had hit the game’s top prize.
Her husband calmly confirmed the win before calling their daughter, who then joined them to celebrate. The winner, who is retired from both the phone company and the federal government, said she has not yet decided how to use the money.
The Safeway store where the ticket was purchased will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning scratch-off.
Cash Blast is one of several scratch-off games currently available through the Maryland Lottery, offering players a chance at prizes ranging from a few dollars up to $50,000.
