LIBERTY, N.Y. — A lucky player in Liberty kicked off the New Year with a $29,150.50 win after purchasing the top-prize-winning ticket for the Jan. 1 Take 5 Evening drawing.

The winning ticket was sold at Extra Food Mart, located at 27 Mill Street in Liberty. Take 5 numbers are drawn from a field of 39, with drawings held twice daily at 2:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

The New York Lottery encourages all players to check their tickets, as Lottery prizes of any amount can be claimed up to one year from the date of the drawing.

Lottery officials advise winners to sign the back of their tickets and store them in a safe location before contacting the New York Lottery for prize claims.
