Aberdeen man wins $36,157 Racetrax prize after leaving home during construction
Aberdeen, MD – A Harford County car salesman found more than peace and quiet when he stepped out to escape the noise of home remodeling—he also found his biggest Maryland Lottery win, a $36,157 Racetrax prize.
The Aberdeen resident stopped at the Food Mart inside the Sunoco at 607 South Philadelphia Boulevard on his way to a neighbor’s house after being asked to pick up a soda. While there, he placed a $17 Superfecta wager for 20 Racetrax races, a game he said he plays about once a week.
As he left the store with his drink, he ran into a friend and paused to talk. That delay gave him a view through the window of the first race starting, and he watched as his horses—numbers 12, 9, 6, and 1—crossed the finish line in perfect order.
The win totaled $36,157. The player claimed his prize on September 15 at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore, saying the money comes at a much-needed time for his family.
The Sunoco Food Mart will receive a $361.57 retailer bonus for selling the winning ticket.
