WOODBRIDGE, VA – A confrontation at Potomac Mills Mall led to the arrest of 22-year-old David Joshua Barnes from Reston on charges of assaulting law enforcement officers. The incident occurred on June 22 at approximately 11:47 AM near the mall’s food court area.

Police were called to the scene to address reports of an intoxicated individual causing disturbances. Barnes was initially detained without incident by the officers. However, as they escorted him from the premises, he began to resist actively by spitting and kicking at the officers involved. Despite his aggressive behavior, Barnes was eventually secured and placed in a police vehicle without further complications.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the altercation. Barnes has been charged with three counts of assault & battery on a law enforcement officer, one count of obstruction of justice, and one count of public intoxication. He is currently being held without bond, awaiting a court date to face these charges.
