TRENTON, NJ – A 36-year-old Trenton man has been arrested and charged after police say he was identified as the suspect in an early November assault on Chestnut Street.
Officers from the 9th District located the man late Friday morning after recognizing him from a prior description related to the incident.
Police say the suspect, wearing the same hat seen during the assault, was taken into custody without incident.

Suspect identified during patrol
At about 11:30 a.m. Friday, officers encountered a man on the 100 block of Chestnut Street matching the description of the suspect wanted for an assault that occurred November 1 in the 600 block of the same street. After confirming his identity, officers detained him for questioning.
Charges filed following identification
The suspect was later identified as Jose Luis Garcia of the 300 block of South Broad Street. According to authorities, Garcia was positively identified by witnesses and subsequently charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person.
