NEW YORK, NY – A 59-year-old female pedestrian is in critical condition after being hit by a wrong-way male bicyclist, who fled the scene at the intersection of 2 Avenue and East 38 Street.

The incident happened on Friday at around 7:37 a.m., within the jurisdiction of the 17th Precinct. The NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad disclosed that the woman was crossing 2 Avenue in the crosswalk when she was struck by the bicyclist going northbound in the wrong direction. The cyclist did not remain at the scene.

The pedestrian was transported by EMS to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue and is currently in critical condition. The sought individual was last seen heading northbound on 2 Avenue.
