BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. — A man will serve consecutive prison sentences after pleading guilty to incest and repeatedly failing to comply with sex offender registration laws, authorities said.

The case stems from a 2023 incident involving a vulnerable adult victim.

Officials said the defendant admitted not only to the primary offense but also to multiple violations of North Carolina’s sex offender registration requirements.

As part of the plea, the court sentenced the man to consecutive active prison terms.

He will also be required to register as a sex offender for life and is subject to a permanent no-contact order to protect the victim.

Prosecutors indicated they were satisfied with the outcome of the case and the safeguards put in place.

Authorities said the case highlights the importance of enforcing registration laws and protecting vulnerable individuals.
