Man slashed with scissors during dispute on Harlem subway platform

HARLEM, NY – A 60-year-old man was slashed with a pair of scissors during a violent altercation on a Harlem subway platform Wednesday evening, police said.

The New York City Police Department reported that the attack occurred around 6:50 p.m. on October 1 on the northbound 2/3 line at 135th Street and Lenox Avenue.

Investigators said the victim was standing on the platform when an unidentified man approached and started a verbal dispute. During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly slashed the victim with scissors while saying, “I’ll take that from you,” before fleeing the station on foot.

Emergency responders transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, where he was listed in stable condition.

Suspect remains at large

Police described the suspect as a male with a dark complexion who was last seen wearing a black and brown sweater and blue jeans.

Detectives are working to identify and locate the attacker, who fled in an unknown direction after the assault.
