WILKES-BARRE, PA – The Wilkes-Barre Police Department has announced the arrest of Harry Gordon, with no known address for burglary after setting off the security alarm at a local Citgo gas station while stealing approximately 51 cartons of cigarettes.
On September 8, at 4:23 am, Wilkes-Barre Police responded to an activated burglar alarm at Citgo 94 S Pennsylvania Ave.
“Officers arriving found that the building had been entered and discovered that approximately 51 cartons of cigarettes had been stolen. The approximate value was $5000.00. Detectives arrived and processed the scene,” police said.
Three hours later, officers on patrol stopped a male subject suspected of being wanted.
“During the arrest, the male was found to have several cartons of cigarettes on him,” police said. “Further investigation led the officers to an area of the city where they encountered the suspect. The suspect was also found to have numerous cartons of stolen merchandise from the Citgo Burglary.”
Gordon was taken into custody and transported to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department headquarters to be interviewed by detectives.
He was charged with burglary and related offenses.
