COLUMBUS, OH — The Columbus Division of Police is asking for the public’s assistance following a series of unprovoked assaults on North High Street in the city’s Short North District late last month.

On December 28, 2024, around 9:00 p.m., officers responded to reports of multiple pedestrians being punched without warning while walking along North High Street near East 2nd Avenue. One victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of facial injuries.

Video evidence later obtained by detectives showed several people being “sucker punched” by unknown individuals as they strolled along the sidewalk.

Police have charged 23-year-old Daz’Quan Anderson with two counts of felonious assault in connection with the attacks. Warrants were also issued on January 3 for Phillip Moore III and Dale Seymore in relation to the ongoing investigation.

Authorities are urging additional victims and witnesses to come forward to aid in identifying all individuals involved. Detective Pellegrini can be reached at 614-645-2328, and anonymous tips can be submitted through Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS (8477).

A wave of random street assaults has unsettled Columbus’ Short North District as police search for more victims and suspects.
